Set in a truly dramatic location on the rim of the Great Rift Valley gorge, the lodge offers spectacular views of Lake Manyara and the national park surrounding it.

Lake Manyara National Park

Featuring a wide topographical variety and abundant wildlife, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, ostrich, bush buck, and aardvarks roam the park’s open plains, and hippo pools line the shores. The lake attracts over 380 species of birds such as flamingos, pelicans, storks, cormorants, and Egyptian geese. Ground water forests of tamarind, mahogany, and fig teem with monkeys; elephant often frequent the escarpment slopes amid the baobab trees, and lions sprawl lazily on the branches of umbrella trees in the acacia woodland.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Last erupting in 1983, the active Ol-Ndoinyo Lengai volcano, Ngorongoro Crater, and Olduvai Gorge all make up this famed conservation area. It’s steep surrounds provide a natural sanctuary to an array of wildlife and the endangered Black Rhino are still found here. Widely regarded as one of the world’s great natural wonders, East Africa’s flamingos breed around Lake Natron to the northeast. Ngorongoro is only a 40 minute drive from Escarpment Luxury Lodge and thus easily visited from the property.

Mount Kilimanjaro

Standing majestically at 5,892 meters (19,331 feet) above sea level, this inactive volcano is Africa’s highest peak and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Kilimanjaro is an international tourist destination and largely frequented by hikers and mountaineers from all corners of the globe. Located close to the equator, the mountain is also known for it’s strangely snow-capped peak which towers above the grassy savannah plains below.

Tarangire National Park

An ideal full day trip from Escarpment Luxury Lodge, Tarangire boasts the second highest concentration of wildlife of all Tanzania’s national parks. Offering abundant game viewing with over 700 resident lions, it is said to hold the largest population of elephant in the world and large herds of buffalo, zebra, giraffe, and wildebeest can often be seen. Tarangire is widely regarded as the country’s ultimate stop for bird watching enthusiasts with well over 450 species having been recorded.

Serengeti National Park

Widely revered the world over, Serengeti is among the top safari destinations in Africa and Tanzania’s most visited attraction. Greatly known for the famed great wildlife migration, this dramatic phenomenon is decided as a result of grazing availability.
